Steve Jobs iPhone presentation .chttp://www.youtubeom/watch?v=6uW-E496FXg&feature=related
When I was on YouTube, researching
presentations, I came across a man called Steve Jobs, who kept catching my eye.
As I began to listen to him, I understood what an effective presentation
consisted of, he had all the components as outlined by Eggleston Group,
including;
·
Connection with the audience
·
Humour
·
Interest in his subject
·
A clear and loud voice
·
He was calm and collected
·
He had a beginning, middle and an effective end
In Relation to the key components of the ‘Eggleston group’, here
are examples from Steve’s presentation which he included and my personal response:
·
It was clear to see that he was very interested and educated in
his topic which is very important because if you’re interested, the audience
will instantly form a relationship.
·
His PowerPoint was in bit size chunks so the audience would stay tuned
(NO JARGON).This allowed him to take breaks, to pause for a moment and
gather his thoughts so that his ideas would come across calmly.
·
During his presentation Jobs had a technical
difficulty with his PowerPoint, which we all dread happening but as he was aware
that it can happen to the best of presenters, he was prepared and covered it up by creating humour
with the audience as distraction.
·
What I most enjoyed was his effective end was that he
ended it on a quote, from Wayne Gretzky; ‘I skate to where the puck is going to
be not where it has been’. This ending for me leaves the audience wanting to
know what’s next for apple.
